Enterprise Network

2008 Year in Review

Now that the holidays are upon us and the calendar is about to turn to 2009, I want to thank you for participating in Enterprise Network events over the past 12 months. Whether you were a first-time visitor or a regular attendee at our monthly Executive Forums, your participation was appreciated and added value to our mission - helping business owners like you "Connect for Growth."

During 2008 we hosted a number of powerful speakers, outstanding panelists and tremendous networking opportunities. For a full listing of our achievements, summaries from our speakers and calendar of our upcoming events, please visit www.EN.org. Here are just a few of the highlights:

  • Jerry Moyes, CEO of Swift Transportation, kicked off the year in January - and the audience was mesmerized by his story of perseverance and success, and the method of which Swift trucks utilize technology to track anti-tipping and near misses. By the way, our attendance included nearly 250 executives.
  • Jahm Najafi, CEO of the Najfafi Companies, spoke of his humble beginnings and treated the audience to an insight into his company's philosophy on operations and investments.
  • Local executives from Taser International, PetSmart and Risk Solutions International conducted a panel discussion on Risk and Crisis Management, which inspired me, and I'm sure other executives, to call my insurance broker to guarantee our policies covered all sorts of risk. I have to admit that I found this breakfast forum to be one of the highlights of the year.
  • We also were delighted to host former Vice President of the United States and current Chairman of Cerberus Management, Dan Quayle, for an insightful Q & A session, just as the door to the financial crisis opened. My hat goes off to Dan for being so honest and forthright, as our nation's economy and many companies under management by Cerberus, were sinking fast.
  • We ended the year with a lively panel discussion featuring Phil Francis, CEO of PetSmart, Deanna Salazar, VP of Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Dawn Roberts, VP of Willis, and how each of these executives and their companies manage the task of attracting and keeping the best employees.
  • Enterprise Network featured hard hitting and timely topics including a panel of Social Media experts that educated our attendees on how this phenomena is transforming the marketing industry; and, a special panel of Finance experts that helped attendees learn more about gaining access to capital.
  • In addition to presenting outstanding speakers and these relevant business topics at the monthly Executive Forums, Enterprise Network continues to attract senior-level executives from some of the largest companies in Arizona. So, if you are interested in having the opportunity to meet and network with the likes of Brad Casper, Ken Kendrick, Dale Jenson, Harvey Mackay, Alfredo Molina, Jimmy Walker, Rick Welts, Derrick Hall, Jeff Morhet and John Zidich, I would like to invite you to become a regular attendee during 2009.

In August of this year, we launched this new and improved Web site. This new site enables social networking and is designed to help you "Connect for Growth" with other EN Participants While 2008 has been an outstanding year for the Enterprise Network, I know 2009 will begin on a high note, as Harvey Mackay, the world-renowned author and speaker will be our guest presenter on Thursday, January 29. We hope you will plan to attend what promises to be an outstanding program and bring along a few of your best customers or prospective clients, as I am confident Harvey will be present an inspiring and value overview of his business success and advice.

On behalf of the Enterprise Network Board of Directors and Committee members, we extend our gratitude to our corporate partners for their support of our monthly Executive Forums. We also would like to thank and recognize you for attending our Executive Forums and contributing to our success. Happy holidays!

Sincerely,

Joe Jacober 2008-09 President Enterprise Network
